The Bhakti Yoga Institute has a high hot water demand and Enviko’s first challenge was to reduce the cost of the high gas bill. Due to the southerly orientation of the roof and abundance of space it was obvious solar thermal was the technology to install. The system will supply 65% of their hot water needs throughout the year and cost nothing to operate. The system was connected to a 400 litre highly insulated hot water cylinder allowing the four en suite shower rooms to operate continually in high demand.
To back up the renewable solar system Enviko installed a Vaillant Eco Tech condensing boiler. The boiler has a SEDBUK band A efficiency rating and offers a reliable, efficient method of providing heat and hot water whist keeping costs to a minimum. Enviko were also asked to install the first fix to the new en-suite bathrooms in preparation for the sanitary ware to be installed.
Upon completion the charity was able to qualify for the current commercial renewable heat incentive and will generate an annual income of £310, whilst their savings on gas will be as high as 20% of their total bill.
