Whether planning, acquiring, operating, re-powering or selling a wind farm, Enviko can offer clients a range of skills and experience - from essential project services such as due diligence, through to adding value by way of project lifetime support.
Due Diligence
The scope of the assessment depends on the stage of the project and the client's requirements. As appropriate, it can include the following activities:
Enviko aims to deliver projects in a timely, safe and economical fashion. Our client-focused approach provides a flexible service from feasibility to commissioning, applying innovative solutions to the challenges confronted.
Feasibility Studies
Developers are constantly making decisions about their portfolio of potential sites; which sites to develop and in what order, what size of machine to use, how much capacity a site will accommodate and what is the optimal layout.
Experience is the key to making the right decisions; Enviko provides technical assistance in ranking sites, selecting turbine dimensions, designing layouts, assessing likely capital, operational and grid connection costs to get it right first time.
Project Management and Turnkey Projects
Enviko undertakes full project management or provides a turnkey arrangement, as circumstances require.
Management includes all aspects of a project, including procurement, contract letting, contract and site management. Full or partial turnkey packages can be put together rapidly and cost effectively, using national or local contractors.
Turbine Selection and Procurement
Turbine procurement is one of the most important aspect of wind energy development. Turbines may represent up to 80% of the capital cost of a wind farm and their reliability and long term power output are crucial to the financial performance of the project.
It is important to secure not only an acceptable price, but also the right guarantees, delivery and performance bonds and specific guarantees on aspects of performance governed by planning conditions, such as noise. All such aspects need to be closely tied in with the requirements of
financing institutions.
Enviko can advise on or manage all aspects of the procurement process. We have long standing contacts with all the major manufacturers.
Environmental Assessment
Enviko carries out the full range of environmental studies required for the production of an Environmental Statement (ES).
Assessments are prepared against the background of the statutory requirements, the Best Practice guidelines of the British Wind Energy Association and the Guidelines produced by Friends of the Earth.
ES's are carried out in full consultation with planning authorities, conservation bodies, all statutory consultees and selected non-statuatory consultees.
Wind Resources and Energy Yield
Profitable wind energy developments need the best possible estimates of the wind speeds and the potential energy yield. We have the experience and equipment required to undertake wind measurements to predict wind speeds and energy yields, and model wind regime using industry standard software.
Design and Cost Estimation
Enviko maintains an up to date database of all project cost components, from turbines to trenches. The database is continually updated and refined, using actual costs from completed projects and quotations and estimates obtained for proposed sites.
Enviko has particular expertise in minimising cost by design, including tight definition of the scope of civil works and negotiating with local electricity companies to secure minimum cost electrical connection and optimum operational performance (capacity, power factor etc.).
Financial Evaluation
Enviko maintains a full project financial model, which can generate all parameters required by both equity investors and debt providers. It has wide sensitivity analysis capabilities, covering wind resource, RPI, capital and operating costs, gearing and debt term.
