The installation procedure commences once planning permission has been granted, Enviko can undertake all consent applications and provision of planning documentation for the entire installation on your behalf.
As part of this process the local distribution network operator (DNO) would
undertake a connection study to ensure that fault current levels and power flows are not onerous to the other loads on the distribution network – this culminates in the grid connection requirements for ancillary equipment.
Additionally, civil engineers undertake a ground condition survey in order to finalise design of the foundation. The primary action on-site will be to construct the foundations and secure any required access roads to the turbine location and lay crane hard standings if required.
The foundations for the turbine consist of an anchor cage set in reinforced concrete.
Once the concrete has successfully passed a crush test, the turbine can be erected. The base of the tower attaches directly to the protruding part of the anchor. Depending on the type of turbine, the tower may be pre-assembled at ground level, or erected one part at a time. The nacelle is then raised and fixed to the tower, then the rotor and blades are attached to the tower. The blades and central rotor are usually pre-assembled at ground level for medium sized wind turbines, and the whole unit attached to the nacelle.
The grid connection work is undertaken by the network operator and independent electrical contractors. Often upgrades to the existing network are required for the turbine to be connected. Once the wind turbine is fully installed and all cabling and grid connection work completed, the turbine can be commissioned, and commence exporting electricity to the grid.
Enviko offer a full installation service, from the groundworks through to the final commissioning. Alternatively we can work with you if there are elements you'd like to undertake youself:
-Site preparation
-Groundworks, roof mounts & ducting
-Electrical cable installation
-System assemby
-Inverter installation and programming
-Grid connection and metering
-Final commissioning
